Daqing Mountain Wildlife Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Daqing Mountain Wildlife Park is located in the northern suburbs of Hohhot, adjacent to the Daqing Mountain range. The site was chosen for its convenient transportation and unique terrain and landforms. Externally, it borders the Hohhot–Baotou Expressway to the south, the Hohhot–Wuchuan Highway to the west, and Hongshankou to the east, situated at the intersection of major expressways; internally, it is also just a 40-minute bus ride from the city center, making it part of the urban fringe.

The predecessor of Daqing Mountain Wildlife Park was the Hohhot Zoo. The park is divided into four main scenic areas: the Entrance Scenic Area, the Verdant Dawn Scenic Area, the Human and Nature Scenic Area, and the Wild Journey Scenic Area. Among these, the Human and Nature and Wild Journey areas focus primarily on the breeding, raising, and exhibition of animals. Guided by the philosophy of “harmonious coexistence between humans and nature,” the vast majority of animals in these two areas are free-roaming on the mountainsides. These two areas share similar yet complementary functions. The Wild Journey area mainly highlights the wolf, the natural soul and dominant force of grassland culture, along with other large predators, offering visitors a distinct and grassland-style wild adventure. The Human and Nature area centers on animal performances and the free-range display of smaller animals, allowing visitors to relax and interact closely with the animals right after the intense Wild Journey experience. This tangible and intangible contrast not only satisfies the visitors’ desire for excitement and enjoyment but also caters to their craving for diverse sensory experiences. The Wild Journey area, in particular, leaves a deep impression, where visitors on sightseeing vehicles can witness wolf packs hunting, as well as carnivorous beasts such as tigers, lions, and black bears resting or foraging beside the vehicles, providing an up-close encounter with the wonders of nature. The Entrance Scenic Area and the Verdant Dawn Scenic Area also feature animal exhibits, while integrating science education, character development activities, ethnic cuisine, and entertainment, showcasing rich grassland culture. These additions greatly enhance the park’s diversity and functionality, moving beyond the previously compartmentalized experience and significantly increasing the enjoyment of a visit.
