Locomotive Square

Locomotive Square was built in June 2004. The locomotive in the square is a Japanese-made steam locomotive from 1940, and the tracks beneath it are 43 kg rails manufactured in the Soviet Union in 1925. The name "43 kg rails" comes from their weight of 43 kilograms per meter. When Chairman Mao Zedong traveled to Moscow, Soviet Union, in 1949 via Manzhouli, the train he rode was pulled out of the country by this very locomotive. The locomotive’s number plate is “1861”.
