Yingxi Peak Forest Corridor

The Yingxi Peak Forest Corridor is located around 60 kilometers southwest of Yingde city proper, spanning the towns of Jiulong, Mingjing, and Yanbei. This area boasts a dense distribution of over a thousand limestone peaks, making it the most concentrated peak forest corridor in Guangdong Province. Meandering streams flow through the region, while caves and ancient architecture add to its charm. When visiting the Yingxi Peak Forest Corridor, be sure to explore two major peak forests, visit two caves, and discover two historical sites.

The two major peak forests are “Thousand Soldiers Peak Forest,” located three kilometers south of Jiulong Town. Here, the stone peaks stand separate yet close together, all leaning eastward as if they were soldiers ready to charge into battle. The second is “Gongzheng Stream Tree Peak Forest,” which features thousands of uniquely shaped peaks—each one offering a distinct view. A winding stream meanders through this section of the peak forest, adding a touch of vitality.

The two caves are “Chuantian Cave” and “Yangyan Cave.” Chuantian Cave, located two kilometers west of Jiulong Town, is a cave with a stream running right through it. A boat tour through the cave covers about 200 meters, and two holes in the cave ceiling allow sunlight to stream in. The interior is lush with shade-loving plants. Yangyan Cave, situated about three kilometers north of Yanbei Town, is hailed as “the largest cave in northern Guangdong.” Its stalactites sparkle brilliantly and have a high-quality texture.

The two historical sites are Peng Family Ancestral Hall and Little Zhaozhou Bridge. The Peng Family Ancestral Hall is located on Luoshan Hill near Mingjing Town. Built in the mid-Qing Dynasty, the structure was built along the mountain slope, occupying a strategically important location. It served as a defensive fortress constructed by the local Peng clan to protect against bandit raids. The second site is Little Zhaozhou Bridge, located two kilometers north of Mingjing Town. Made entirely of stone and lacking any piers, this graceful arched bridge spans the river with a light and nimble form.

In addition to the above attractions, the corridor also offers other sites worth visiting, such as Rongqiang Little Guilin, Dragon Horn Mountain, Royal Stone Mountain, Mingjing Reflection, Diaoxiang Rock, Heshun Rock, Guest-Greeting Pine, Yongfeng Ancient Temple, and the site of Flying Horse Temple.
