Bai Niao Tang Prairie

Where can you find grasslands in Guangdong? The Yingxi Tiandengou Prairie is the first campsite established by Jiuzhou Posthouse in pristine nature, featuring rich Chinese cultural elements. It’s a magical and beautiful place — a hidden gem of a grassland in Guangdong. Now, let’s take a look at the Yingde Tiandengou Prairie. Located in Yingde, Qingyuan, about 200 kilometers from Guangzhou, this is an underdeveloped scenic area that boasts countless waterfalls, unique "treehouses," and the rare sight of alpine grasslands in Guangdong.

Walking up along the only stone path from the mountain’s base, you’ll find gurgling streams on your left and wild woods on your right. Even the strongest sunlight filtering through the deep forest leaves only dappled, swaying shadows on the stone steps.

The area above 1,100 meters above sea level is the alpine grassland, known by the lovely name “Bai Niao Tang Camp.” Although it's made up of numerous small hills and might not qualify as a true grassland in the conventional sense, it still offers a refreshing atmosphere: rolling green hills stretch as far as the eye can see, dotted with vibrant wildflowers in every corner, exuding boundless vitality. The temperature here is 6 degrees Celsius lower than at the mountain’s base. Camping on the mountain allows you to witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Bai Niao Tang (also called Bai Niao Pond) gets its name because it is located at the top of a high mountain with gentle slopes, numerous ponds and marshes, rich vegetation, and a gathering of many birds. It is also known as the “Bai Niao Tang Meadow” due to its dominant grassland vegetation. The Bai Niao Tang Alpine Meadow, sitting at an elevation of 1,100 meters, is a pristine wild grassland where you can overlook the Ruyuan Grand Canyon and the Yingxi Peak Forest Corridor from one of the highest vantage points. It is a cool world unaffected by summer heat. In spring and summer, mist often drifts across the landscape, and after the rain clears, you may even spot rainbows and soaring cranes. Autumn and summer bring pleasant weather, mild breezes, and sunshine, with temperatures 6–8 degrees cooler than down the mountain. At night, the starry sky flows overhead, the moon is bright, and the breeze is gentle — making it a paradise for summer retreats, leisurely wellness, and wild camping. As the core and highest point of the “Yingde Prairie,” and an important part of the Shimentai Nature Reserve, Bai Niao Tang features unique flora and fauna due to its special geography. For instance, grass species like Carex lepidocarpa above 900 meters, ancient fish species in the meadow marshes, and other primitive organisms all contribute to the distinctiveness of Bai Niao Tang Meadow.

The planning of Bai Niao Tang Camp will be based on its advantages and divided into five functional zones: First, a health-oriented summer resort. Second, an auto camping site. Third, a golf course. Fourth, an alpine mist tea plantation. And fifth, a naturist bathing area with Chinese cultural characteristics.
