Fengsheng Ancient Temple is located on Foguang Mountain to the west of Lixi Town, Yingde, Qingyuan. Behind the temple lies a sacred five-colored earth, while in front flows the “人”-shaped river. It is surrounded by the majestic and undulating Arhat Guardian Mountains and the spectacular Damao Gorge and Xianglu Gorge. Blessed by the presence of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, it is an extraordinary and auspiciously blessed place. In the morning of April 26, 2003, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a solar halo phenomenon appeared in the sky above Foguang Mountain, featuring a seven-colored ring around the sun. A vivid rainbow was also seen both directly in front of and behind the ancient temple, creating a magnificent display. At that time, Fengsheng Ancient Temple was joyfully welcoming the arrival of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from Jiuhua Mountain. On that day, nearly one million residents of Qingyuan had the rare fortune of witnessing this once-in-a-millennium celestial marvel.
