Feixia Scenic Area

The Feixia Scenic Spot in Qingyuan City is a provincial-level scenic area and a provincial tourism resort center. The scenic area is 23 kilometers from Qingyuan.

The scenic area's main features are summarized as “one ancient site, two majestic sights, three grand elements, four wonders, and five types of experiences.” It combines natural and cultural landscapes, featuring both mountains and water, ancient and modern elements. Visitors can explore the “Little Three Gorges” of the south, experience life in this fairyland-like setting, view the renowned Feixia Ancient Cave known as the “Little Potala Palace of Tibet,” relax in the Feixia Ice Pool (a natural mountain-water swimming pool) to unwind after a day’s adventure, take boat rides along the river to enjoy fresh river delicacies, and listen to the “ancient” sounds of the Feixia Bianzhong ancient music performance.

With natural scenery and cultural landscapes as its backdrop and religion as its core essence, this is a renowned summer retreat destination that stands out for its unique charm of ancient charm, wonder, and beauty. In addition to seventy-two peculiar peaks and clear, picturesque gorges, the area also boasts a vast complex of ancient architecture including the Feilai Ancient Temple, Cangxia Ancient Cave, Feixia Fairy Taoist Temple, Jinxia Zen Monastery, and Yuxia Mountain Pavilion, covering a total area of 52,000 square meters. Towering ancient trees and majestic historic buildings create a stunning picture, truly making it a place where “the scenery is celebrated across the southern land, and historic relics are found throughout the gorges.” Scattered along the gorges and riverside are sites such as the Rhinoceros Pool, White Bubble Pool, Bell Pool, Ningbi Bay, Han Yu’s Mooring Spot, Dongpo’s Fishing Rock, White Sand Islet, as well as the Imperial Son’s Reading Cliff, Qin General’s Carp-Fishing Platform, Zhongsu Tidal Stone, Ge Altar’s Alchemy Stone, Damo’s Scripture-Discussing Stone, Lion Stone, and Guiyuan Cave, among others. Each of these historic sites comes with its own fascinating stories and beautiful legends.
