The Matou Village Grand Residence is located in Matou Village, Shijiao Town, Qingcheng District, Qingyuan City. Originally built in the ninth year of the Xianfeng reign during the Qing Dynasty (1859) and renovated in the thirtieth year of the Guangxu reign (1904), the residence consists of nine halls, eighteen courtyards (courtyard spaces), and two rows of side rooms—hence its popular name "Nine Halls and Eighteen Courtyards." It covers a total area of 5,724 square meters. The nine halls are arranged in a well-like layout, with the three central main halls each spanning five bays in width, and the six side halls each spanning three bays. All feature flush gable roofs and a hybrid wooden beam structure of raised beams and through-tenons. The beams, columns, and other components such as camel hump braces and short columns are exquisitely crafted, adorned with carvings of figures and cloud motifs. Between the main halls, side halls, and side rooms, there are four parallel longitudinal corridors. Each corridor is 31 meters long and 5.5 meters wide, with gate towers built at both ends. Behind the halls, there is a row of 18 single rooms, which have now collapsed. In front of the residence lies a spacious courtyard, where flagpole stone bases and horse-dismounting stones still remain, along with tall surrounding walls.
