Tianzi Mountain Waterfall Group

The Tianzi Mountain Waterfall is a group of natural cascading waterfalls located in Xikeng Mountain Area, Gaotian Town, Qingxin County, Qingyuan City. It lies at the southern foot of Tianzi Mountain (commonly known as Daluoshan, with an elevation of 998 meters), the highest peak in Qingxin County. The site is 3 kilometers from Gaotian Bishuitan Drifting, 19 kilometers from downtown Qingyuan, 68 kilometers from Guangzhou, 8 kilometers east of the Feilaixia Water Control Project, and adjacent to the Feixia Scenic Area. A secondary cement road leads directly to the attraction, making it easily accessible.

The waterfall group is formed by streams converging from Tianzi Mountain springs that flow through mountains and valleys, with a strong water flow. There are over ten large and small waterfalls in total. Among them, the Tianzi Waterfall has a drop of over 90 meters, with water cascading down the mountain cliffs like a bead curtain hanging on the wall; the Tianhou Waterfall, with a drop of over 80 meters, features rapid streams plunging through misty vapors, creating a spectacular sight. The area enjoys fresh air with a negative ion concentration of over 100,000 per cubic centimeter, truly a natural oxygen bar that refreshes the mind and lifts the spirit.

Tianzi Mountain is high, steep, and far from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is covered with dense forests, rich in species, and blooming with mountain flowers. Hiking up the valley along the stream, you’ll hear the murmuring water and experience the serene yet rugged surroundings. The stream bed features smooth boulders like polished stone slabs and rugged, jagged rocks, with clear pools beneath where fish swim playfully. Lush bamboo groves on Luoshan Mountain add to the scenic beauty. It’s a perfect place for exploration, waterfall viewing, sightseeing, connecting with nature, and escaping the noise of daily life.

Legend has it that over 700 years ago, when the last emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty was being relentlessly pursued by Yuan troops and hastily retreated southward, he passed through this area and took refuge at Tianzi Mountain. With the protection of war advocates such as Lu Xiufu and Wen Tianxiang, and the valiant resistance of generals including Zhu Wenhuan, Wang Jiudu, and Xu Qigong, the Yuan troops suffered heavy losses along both banks of the Beijiang River. The three Song generals eventually perished in battle and were laid to rest in Qingyuan.
