The Taipei City Xinyi District Office willhold two free guided tour sessions on the afternoons of April 12 and 26 from 14:00 to 16:00, leading participants from the Xinyi District Administrative Centerto discover 10 public art pieces including LOVE Taipei, NUMBERS, Soaring Dragon, Seal, and Infinite Life, before heading to Taiwan’s first military dependents’ village—Sisini Village,to experience the blend of artistic culture and simplicity in a modern metropolis, and to learn about the local culture of Xinyi District.

Xinyi District in Taipei was established in the 79th year of the Republic of China. Among all administrative districts, although it is not large in area and was established relatively recently, besides being home to numerous political, economic, and commercial landmarks such as Taipei 101, Taipei City Hall, Taipei City Council, and the Xinyi Shopping District, it also boasts rich cultural heritage, including Taiwan’s first military dependents’ village—Sisini Village, the exhibition and performance culture of the Xinyi Shopping District, and the public art around the area.
Located near the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1, Sisini Village was the first military dependents’ village built after the early Nationalist government relocated to Taiwan. It declined as residents gradually moved out, but was designated as a historic building in the year 2000, and in recent years has become a hub for emerging creative industries. On weekends, creative markets gather here, offering everything from aromatic pour-over coffee and elegant handmade leather goods to various cultural and creative items. The unique atmosphere of discovering new creative energy in old buildings, along with the nostalgic and slow-living vibe preserved in the former military village, attracts many domestic tourists as well as visitors from Japan and Hong Kong.
The guided tours organized by the Xinyi District Office this time will cover public art sites within the Xinyi Planning District and near Taipei 101, including 10 public art installations: LOVE Taipei, NUMBERS, Starry Moonlight, Soaring Dragon, Urban Symphony, Dialogue between Yin and Yang, Seal, Between Heaven and Earth, Ring of the World, and Infinite Life, and will also include a visit to Taiwan’s first military dependents’ village—Sisini Village.Each session accommodates 40 people, requires advance registration, and is completely free.
