The Ma Tougang Tomb is located in Ma Tougang, Sankeng Town, Qingxin County. In 1962 and 1963, two tombs were excavated, both vertical earthen pit graves, with no human remains or burial objects remaining. The pit of Tomb No. 1 was damaged, and 33 burial items were found, including bronze ware such as ding (tripod cauldrons), gui (food vessels), fu (wine vessels), lei (wine containers), zheng (bells), yongzhong (bells with handles), yue (axes), mao (spears), qi (battle-axes), spear butts, and human-headed columnar vessels, as well as pottery fragments including jars decorated with a combination of kui patterns and grid motifs, and also whetstones. Tomb No. 2 is 2.8 meters long, 1.1 meters wide, and 2.35 meters deep, with an orientation of 30 degrees. It contained 39 burial items, including bronze ware such as lei (wine containers), yongzhong (bells with handles), axes, yue (axes), spears, daggers, and arrowheads, among which one dagger with a human-figure-shaped handle is particularly distinctive. Other items include whetstones and pottery jars decorated with a combination of comb-stitched dot patterns and grid motifs. These two tombs are the earliest discovered in Guangdong Province where bronze ware constitutes the main category of burial objects, and they hold significant importance for the study of the Bronze Age culture in the Lingnan region.

It is a key central town under the development plan of Guangdong Province and a chartered town with a history of over 2,000 years. Geographically, it borders Guangzhou and Foshan to the south, neighbors Zhaoqing to the west, and lies close to downtown Qingyuan, being 26 kilometers away from Qingxin County’s urban center. The Qingxi First-Class Highway runs through the entire town, and the Sanheng River, a tributary of the Beijiang River, flows from north to south, making it historically an important border town of Qingyuan. The town covers a total area of 108 square kilometers, governs 1 residential committee and 14 village committees, with a total population of 48,000.
