Introduction Nanshui Reservoir is located to the west of Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County, about 1 kilometer from the Nanshui Lake exit of the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway. It is the second largest artificial lake in Guangdong Province, covering a water surface area of 38 square kilometers. The reservoir was constructed as a large-scale project starting in 1958. It has an elongated shape, running from north to south, and boasts a maximum water storage capacity of 1.25 billion cubic meters.

The water of Nanshui Lake is crystal clear and emerald green, with verdant mountains stretching along its shores and Yao ethnic villages' bamboo and wooden houses nestled among the lush trees. During a boat ride here, you can enjoy the scenic views of the reservoir area while feeling the gentle breeze. The water of Nanshui is especially clear and cool. Due to the reservoir’s considerable depth, with the deepest point exceeding 100 meters, the lake water appears deep blue. It is an ideal summer retreat for escaping the heat.
