Guogong Rock

Guogong Rock is located at the foot of Shixingguiling, 5 kilometers northeast of the county town. Legend has it that in ancient times, it was the hermitage of three dukes—Wu, Li, and Hou. After their deaths, temples were erected in their honor, and an annual ceremony is held on the sixth day of the sixth lunar month to carry the deities in procession, offer sacrifices, and pray for blessings. The cave passages are winding and deep, with narrow squeezes as well as spacious chambers as wide as halls. The cave remains warm in winter and cool in summer, with dripping water from above and no moss. The stalactites inside the cave take on various shapes, creating a uniquely spectacular scene. There is a “stone drum” that makes a sound when struck, a statue of Guanyin seated on a lotus throne, and a turtle-back stone marked with hoofprints resembling those of a horse. Outside the cave lies the Guogong Rock Reservoir, which stores 1.2 million cubic meters of water.
