The Xinfeng River Dam serves as a patriotic education base.

The Xinfeng River Hydropower Plant is located upstream of the scenic Golden Waterway to the southwest of Heyuan City, about 3 kilometers from the city center. The plant features a majestic dam over 100 meters tall, the vast and misty “Wanlv Lake” (Ten Thousand Green Lakes), and the largest conventional hydroelectric generating units in the province. It integrates industrial tourism, landscape sightseeing, water-based holidays, and leisure entertainment. The Xinfeng River Hydropower Plant broke ground on July 15, 1958. It is a large-scale hydropower station independently designed, installed, and constructed by China, featuring comprehensive functions such as power generation, water supply, flood control, irrigation, navigation, and saltwater intrusion prevention. The power station is a masterpiece in the history of China’s hydraulic engineering projects and a successful example of humanity transforming nature for mutual benefit. With its green mountains, blue lake, lush trees, and the mighty dam standing firmly, a continuous flow of electricity powers the land of southern Guangdong, demonstrating the harmonious coexistence of modern industry and nature.
