The Fossil Burial Site of Dinosaur Eggs in Shixia is located in Nanhu Neighborhood Committee, Shangcheng Subdistrict Office, featuring a danxia landform. The specific boundary is as follows: 100 meters west to the centerline of Hepu Avenue, and north to Huancheng Avenue.

The dinosaur egg fossil burial site in Shixia, Heyuan, has been officially upgraded from a “Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit” to a national-level cultural relics protection unit. Recently, this site was recognized by the Ministry of Land and Resources as one of the first batch of national-level key protected paleontological fossil concentration areas.

According to reports, since the 1970s, Heyuan City has conducted initial surveys of dinosaur fossils within its territory. To date, over 16,700 dinosaur egg fossils have been excavated and stored in museums. Heyuan continues to hold the highest number of museum-stored dinosaur egg fossils in the world. Most of these fossils were discovered and excavated in nests. Among the 11 sets of dinosaur skeletal fossils currently housed in the Heyuan Dinosaur Museum, there is the holotype skeletal fossil specimen of the Oviraptorosaurian Huangshiheyuanlong, which was first discovered in South China, as well as more than 200 dinosaur footprints in 8 groups.

In addition, Heyuan is one of the rare global sites where dinosaur egg fossils, dinosaur skeletal fossils, and dinosaur footprints have all been found together—a “trinity” discovery that is very uncommon among all currently excavated dinosaur fossil sites worldwide.

Nanhu Community: Established in September 1995, Nanhu Community in Shangcheng Subdistrict is under the jurisdiction of Shangcheng Subdistrict Office. It is located at No. 2 Nanhu Middle Road, Yuannan Avenue, Yuanzhou District, Heyuan City. The community borders Binjiang Avenue to the east, Fengguang Village to the south, Heyuan Avenue to the west, and Xinxing Road to the north. It covers a total area of 1.7 square kilometers, with 1,437 resident households (5,628 people), 81 floating households (approximately 173 people), 74 Party members in the Community Party General Branch across 2 Party branches, 7 community committee members, 3 clerks, and 7 resident groups.
