The Dongkengnan Late Neolithic Site is located in Dongkeng Village, Jiesheng Town. It borders Dongkeng Lake to the east, is two kilometers west of the Dongkeng Salt Flat, one kilometer south of Dongkeng Sea, and two kilometers north of Dongkeng Village, covering an area of approximately 35,000 square meters. It gets its name from being situated to the south of Dongkeng Village. It was discovered around 1938 by Father Macauley. A wide variety of artifacts are scattered across the surface, including stone tools and pottery. The stone tools mainly consist of arc-shaped scrapers, trapezoidal stone adzes, stone arrowheads, stone spears, and more. There are two types of pottery: sand-tempered black pottery and sand-tempered red pottery. The main vessel types include open-mouthed jars and a type of low-footed sand-tempered bowl decorated with cord marks. The clay pottery comes in light red and gray varieties — one type is a spouted pot, another is a straight-mouthed jar, and there are also high-fired pottery bowls, all decorated with grid patterns or double-line grid patterns. Some pieces have been fired to a hardness close to porcelain. Carbon-14 dating of artifacts unearthed at the site confirms it as a Late Neolithic cultural site.
