Daode An

Daode An is a cultural heritage site protected by Shanwei City.

Daode An is located on the mountainside of "Coastal First Mountain" in the suburbs of Jiesheng Town, covering an area of 600 square meters. It is 0.5 kilometers from the town center, with the Taoist site Yunshan Guan situated right next to the scenic area. Originally built during the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty, it was initially called "Yunshan Temple."

In the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1906), when the abbot monk Yuyuan expanded the temple, it was renamed "Daode An." The plaque above the main gate bears the three characters "得道庵" (Daode An), measuring 1.8 meters in length and 0.66 meters in width. It is inscribed with the elegant praise: "The land spans three bows yet gathers the beauty of the western hills; the heavens reveal eight sceneries, truly adding radiance to the southern land."

Daode An has long been widely renowned, with "Sacred Peak and Spiritual Cliff" referring to this very place. Backed by mountains and facing the sea, the site features towering peaks, rugged rocks, and beautiful mountain scenery. Within the temple grounds are eight scenic spots: Rainbow Bridge and Swift Steps, Winding Path Leading to Seclusion, Lotus Pond Reflecting the Moon, Sacred Peak and Spiritual Cliff, Emerald Stream and Flowing Spring, Ancient Cliff and Verdant Pines, Stone Boat Drifting Ashore, and Immortal Well Suspended in Air. Numerous poems and verses have been composed here over the years, allowing visitors to experience the wonderful ambiance of "listening to the sound of waves as if they were Buddhist music, and gazing afar at the sea and sky blending into one."

The monks of Daode An often serve tea to guests. It is said that drinking tea brewed with the mountain spring water here can promote longevity.
