Shanwei Yunshan Temple

Yunshan Temple is situated on the western side of Xishan Mountain in Jiesheng Town, urban district of Shanwei City, enveloped by surrounding woodlands. To cater to the religious activities of the local Taoist community, in 1993, Taoist followers enthusiastically pooled resources to renovate the more than 300-year-old “Laomu Palace,” initially naming it “Kunling Palace.” In 1997, Taoist Master Sun Xuangjue was appointed as the abbot. With further fundraising of over 1.4 million yuan and three years of construction, the temple was expanded to its current modest scale and renamed “Yunshan Temple.”

The main structures include: the Jade Emperor Hall, the Zhang Tianshi Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Three Pure Ones Hall, the Three Officials Hall, the Scripture Hall, Taoist living quarters, the dining hall, and the conference hall. Each hall features distinct architectural styles, with diverse representations of deities inside. Covering an area of approximately 10,000 square meters, with a built-up area of 1,400 square meters, it is one of the key tourist attractions in Jiesheng Town.

In October 2000, the government’s religious affairs department officially approved Yunshan Temple as a registered Taoist activity site.

Jiesheng Town: Located in the southeastern coastal area of Shanwei City’s urban district, Jiesheng Town borders —— to the east, faces the sea, and is surrounded by mountains on three sides. It covers an area of about 52 square kilometers, with a coastline stretching 12 kilometers. The town comprises 14 administrative villages, 4 communities, and a total of 35 natural villages.
