Fair Lake Nature Reserve
Established in 1998 as a provincial-level nature reserve, Guangdong Haifeng Fair Lake Nature Reserve covers a total area of 7,088 hectares and is divided into the Fair Reservoir Area and the Big Lake Area.
The region features an extensive network of rivers and diverse types of wetlands. Water bodies and wetlands account for 70% of the reserve’s total area, offering abundant aquatic resources and extensive farmland cultivation. The coastal areas and surrounding vast tracts of fertile land provide an excellent ecological environment for waterfowl to feed, nest, breed, and for migratory birds to overwinter, stay, and migrate. Surveys indicate that the number of overwintering migratory birds in the wetlands around Fair Lake Nature Reserve exceeds 20,000.
