Tongding Mountain Tourist Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Tongding Mountain is located in the northern suburbs of Shanwei City, with its main peak standing at an elevation of 311.9 meters. The scenic area features lush forests, rugged rocks, clear streams, and fragrant blossoms. From the mountaintop, visitors can gaze upon the vast South China Sea and embrace the Pinqing Lagoon nestled below, enjoying panoramic views of the shimmering waters and rolling hills—a perfect destination for recreation, fitness, and leisure.

Shanwei Tongding Mountain Tourist Area serves as the city’s backyard garden and is a top choice for tourists seeking leisure, vacationing, and outdoor activities. Centered around the six essential elements of tourism—"food, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment"—the area integrates local cultural features and boasts not only stunning natural scenery but also a rustic charm that has won widespread popularity.

Tongding Mountain is situated in Pubian, Hongcao Town, covering an area of 120 hectares. The scenic area primarily features the Tongding Mountain Country Park and encompasses a range of attractions including agritainment sites, bonsai gardens, landscape forest zones, hotel areas, log cabin zones, and swimming pool areas. In addition to its rich natural landscapes, it also offers sports facilities such as a golf course and soccer fields.

Tongding Mountain Tourist Area was established in 2013 and was rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction in February 2016. Located on the northern outskirts of Shanwei City along the southeastern coast of Guangdong Province, the area spans approximately 1,800 acres. It enjoys convenient transportation, situated along Provincial Road 242 in Pubian, heading towards the city center. It is just 5 kilometers from Shanwei Station on the Shenzhen-Xiamen High-Speed Railway and 2 kilometers from the Pubian exit of the Shenshan Expressway. Visitors from the Pearl River Delta and Chaoshan regions can reach the scenic area within about two hours by high-speed rail or self-driving.

Starting July 1, 2019, several newly built Phase I projects will be put into operation: a glass bridge (over 200 meters long with a clear height of 109 meters, currently the highest in the Greater Bay Area), a glass slide (over 200 meters long, built along the mountain slope, and the longest, steepest, and most thrilling in the Greater Bay Area), the Squirrel Tribe Theme Park (a unique parent-child interactive theme park in the Greater Bay Area), a colorful slide, the Ant Castle, and a fire-themed park (under construction). Further developments under Phases II and III are planned. The scenic area already includes a visitor service center, a large ecological parking lot, hiking trails, and other facilities built to meet 4A-level standards.

For fitness and recreation, the area provides supporting facilities such as a badminton hall, a large waterfall swimming pool, and a high-altitude zip line (currently under renovation and closed to the public). The iconic structure of the tourist area—the Tongding Shengshi (15.8 meters high, 9.8 meters long, and 7 meters wide)—along with the Huangdi Statue, Twin Terraces for Distant Views, Yingxu Pavilion, Fun Corridor, Verdant Shade, Sky Ramp, Hands and Hearts in the Sky, Carefree Pavilion, Xinyue Cottage, Congrong Pavilion, and Mushroom Pavilion, make up 13 scenic spots. In terms of dining, there are farm-style restaurants and a lychee orchard barbecue area.

The tourist area offers comprehensive functions including sightseeing, leisure, vacationing, entertainment, shopping, and accommodation (currently under design and decoration), as well as dining. Tongding Mountain Tourist Area is rich in tourism resources and has grown into a well-established destination that showcases the culture of Shanwei, blends leisure tourism, mass entertainment, and promotes healthy activities.
