Honghua Lake Scenic Area

The living water source of West Lake in Huizhou. Honghua Lake Scenic Area is located in the mountainous region around Longfeng Shangpai Dashibi and Honghuazhang in the southwest of the city, covering an area of 9 square kilometers. Established in 1991, it is a reservoir-type scenic area, consisting of Honghua Lake Reservoir, Dashibi Reservoir, and the east and west entrance parks. The lake area features lush forests, and within the lake there is a Lake-Viewing Pavilion. On Honghuazhang Mountain, there is a Scenic-Overlooking Pavilion.

At the entrance of Honghua Lake, there is Honghua Lake Park. It includes one of the ancient Eight Scenic Spots of Huizhou, the Waterfall Curtain, as well as the Shangyong Pavilion and other attractions. Located at the edge of the traditional urban area, Honghua Lake Scenic Area has now become the closest place for residents of Huizhou to enjoy nature. It truly embodies the scenic characteristics of “not towering yet elegant mountains, unspoiled yet emerald-green forests, not deep yet clear waters, and ageless yet lush trees.”

Amid this bustling and noisy city, Honghua Lake is like a piece of jade in the urban landscape — serene, tranquil, understated, and peaceful.

Honghua Lake Scenic Area, established in 1991, is a reservoir-type scenic area, consisting of Honghua Lake Reservoir, Dashibi Reservoir, and the east and west entrance parks. The reservoir area covers a water surface of 1.62 square kilometers, with a depth of 28 meters and a storage capacity of 19 million cubic meters. Its catchment area spans 6.85 square kilometers. The lake area features lush forests, and within the lake there is a Lake-Viewing Pavilion.

Located at the edge of the traditional urban area, Honghua Lake Scenic Area has now become the closest place for residents of Huizhou to enjoy nature. Here you can find the Water Curtain Cave, one of the ancient Eight Scenic Spots of Huizhou, along with a newly built lake. The water quality here is better than that of the Dongjiang River, Xizhi River, and West Lake in the surrounding urban areas. It truly embodies the scenic characteristics of “not towering yet elegant mountains, unspoiled yet emerald-green forests, not deep yet clear waters, and ageless yet lush trees.”

Opening hours:

Scenic area opening hours: 5:00–22:00. Bicycle rental operating hours: Monday–Friday: 9:00–19:00; Saturday and Sunday: 8:00–20:00.

Free admission. The scenic area is free to enter. Adult bicycle ticket (Monday–Friday): 40 RMB; adult bicycle ticket (Saturday and Sunday): 80 RMB.

Greenway: External motor vehicles and electric bikes are prohibited from entering the reservoir area. Visitors may only enter on foot, by rented bicycle, or by battery-powered vehicle.
