Fengshan Park

Fengshan Park was built in 1984. After the 40th anniversary commemoration of the Dongjiang Column was held in Huizhou in 1983, the Huizhou Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Huizhou Prefectural People’s Government decided to construct a revolutionary history park dedicated to the Dongjiang region in Huizhou.

At the main entrance of the park, there are wide stone steps, over ten meters in width, paved with granite slabs leading all the way to the top of the hill. At the summit stands a granite archway inscribed with four large characters reading “Dongjiang Spirit.” The inscription on the memorial stele for the “Monument to the Revolutionary Martyrs of the Dongjiang People” was penned by Marshal Nie Rongzhen. The base of the tower stele is engraved with bronze regular script, briefly recounting the history spanning over 100 years from the Opium Wars to the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Behind the monument lies an arc-shaped bas-relief wall depicting the great achievements of the Dongjiang Revolution, embedded with six bronze relief sculptures illustrating key events: “The Opium Destruction at Humen,” “The Oath to Overthrow the Qing Court,” “The Success of the Eastern Expedition,” “The Defense of the Soviet Area,” “The Flames of the Anti-Japanese War,” and “The Song of Liberation.”
