Huizhou Yongfu Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Huizhou Yongfu Temple has a long history. It is recorded to have been first built during the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty, making it the first temple in Huizhou. It is also an ancient temple that combines natural and cultural landscapes.

In December 2000, with the approval of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Guangdong Province, Huizhou Yongfu Temple was relocated and rebuilt.

The reconstructed Yongfu Temple covers an area of 56,000 square meters, with a construction area of 7,300 square meters. It features authentic, high-quality Tang-style architecture. Key structures include the Mahavira Hall, the Hall of Amitayus, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, the Main Hall Plaza, and the Mountain Gate.

The design concept of the temple originates from the "Amitayus Sutra Transformation" mural in Cave 17 of the Mogao Grottoes, portraying the scene of the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The design plan envisions Yongfu Temple as a Tang-style architectural complex built against a mountain, featuring axial symmetry and a slightly elongated layout. Covering an area of over 20,000 square meters, the plaza and other facilities occupy more than 7,000 square meters.

The architectural complex of Yongfu Temple will form a visible representation of the "Heavenly Pure Land" on Earth. He stated that the completed Yongfu Temple will be a Buddhist site that is “Number One in Huizhou, and renowned throughout the province and the nation.”
