Jiulong Peak

Jiulong Peak is located 14 kilometers east of Pingshan Town, the county seat of Huidong, and gets its name from the nine mountain ridges on the peak that resemble the shape of dragons. Legend has it that nine dragons flew to the ridges within Huidong and made their home there. Afterwards, people began to call these dragon-shaped ridges “Jiulong Peak.”

The main peak of Jiulong Peak rises 563 meters above sea level, standing tall and straight like the tip of a writing brush, and is also called “Jianbi Peak.” The mountain is covered with ancient trees, clear springs, and pristine waters, boasting beauty, elegance, purity, charm, and tranquility. Legend says that over 600 years ago, a man named Tan Gong herded sheep here in his childhood and later attained immortality. He possessed boundless magical powers, could summon wind and rain, and brought benefits to the people, which earned him great reverence. In his memory, later generations built temples and pavilions on Jiulong Peak.

Major scenic spots include the Tan Gong Ancestral Temple, Wenchang Palace, Zhiyin Pavilion, and Stone Theater.
