Tombstone of the Five Revolutionary Martyrs

The Tombstone of the Five Revolutionary Martyrs is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

The Tombstone of the Five Revolutionary Martyrs is located in Yingtianpu, Bao’an Village, Andun Town, covering an area of 676 square meters with a construction area of 16.5 square meters. The monument stands 4.3 meters tall (including a 1.5-meter base), shaped like a five-pointed pyramid. It faces southeast with its back to the northwest. The front of the monument is inscribed with “Tombstone of the Revolutionary Martyrs Li Shui, Li Ci, Li Rong, Li Yuan, and Li Yin,” while the east and west sides are respectively inscribed with phrases such as “Lived for the Revolution” and “Death Heavier than Mount Tai.”

During the First Revolutionary Civil War, the five martyrs were underground operatives active in the mountainous regions of Huidong. In support of the underground work carried out by the forces of Peng Pai in Haifeng, they attended a secret meeting of underground operatives held in Duozhu. Due to betrayal by an informant, they were ambushed by reactionary forces. A fierce battle ensued, and due to being outnumbered and outgunned, they were shot and killed while trying to break through the encirclement, sacrificing their precious lives for China’s revolutionary cause. In the early 1980s, to commemorate these five revolutionary martyrs, honor their spirits, and strengthen patriotic education, the former Andun Commune Revolutionary Committee (now the People’s Government of Andun Town) mobilized the public to raise over 10,000 yuan to build this monument, which has since become a memorial site for Party history and patriotic education.
