General's Mansion

The General's Mansion is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

The General's Mansion is located at the foot of Jieke Mountain, Zengwu, Shuanglu Xia Village, Tangxi Town, Fengshun County. It was built by Ding Richang during the Tongzhi era (1862–1874) of the Qing Dynasty. Facing southeast and backing northwest, it covers a construction area of 4,455 square meters. The terrain is flat, with bamboo groves and relatively damp sandy soil on three sides. Fifty meters in front of the mansion lies the Shuanglu Stream, and to the right is a residential area.

The General's Mansion is an official-style residence, commonly referred to as the Nine Halls and Eighteen Courtyards or Kui Long Wei. It consists of three large houses connected together, following a three-courtyard and two-wing layout. The central section is larger, while the two side sections are slightly smaller. It features granite foundations, grey brick walls, and corridors connecting various halls and rooms. The main gate stands 3.2 meters high and 2 meters wide, flanked by a pair of stone drums each 1.34 meters high and 9.7 meters in diameter. The front courtyard is 70.1 meters long and 14.6 meters wide, with a stone lion standing on each side. There are watchtowers on both sides of the mansion, and the surrounding walls are equipped with gun ports that are wider inside and narrower outside. In the early years of the Republic of China, three additional sets of single-story houses were built at the rear. The total area is 1,134 square meters, comprising 74 rooms.

In 1988, the Fengshun County People's Government designated it as a cultural relic protection unit.
