Introduction   To enjoy a panoramic view of Cairo, the best place to go is the Mohamed Ali Mosque, which also serves as the mausoleum of Mohamed Ali. This is a temple built in the style of the Ottoman mosques of Istanbul, constructed between 1830 and 1848. It features a strong Turkish architectural style, with a large central dome supported by smaller domes along its sides. Two slender minarets stand diagonally, resembling torches reaching toward the sky. The entire structure is milky white, giving off a clean and serene beauty, and is also known as the "Alabaster Mosque."
