The Sino-Japanese Peace Treaty was signed on April 28, 1952, and came into effect on August 5 of the same year. The main contents of the treaty include: Japan renouncing all rights, titles, and claims to Taiwan, the Pescadores Islands, as well as the Spratly Islands and the Paracel Islands; all treaties, conventions, and agreements concluded between China and Japan prior to December 9, 1941 (the official date of China’s declaration of war against Japan) being rendered null and void due to the war; and the restoration of ROC nationality to the people of Taiwan and the Pescadores.

The Taipei Guest House is a national historic site; bringing food or drinks into the building or its grounds is prohibited. All displayed items are historical documents, and photography is not allowed on site. To protect the historic structure, visitor numbers will be limited.
