Pharaoh's Village

Introduction: Pharaoh's Village is located on a small island in the Nile River within Cairo, covering an area of about 200 acres. It was established in 1984 through fundraising by Dr. Hassan Ragab, Egypt’s first ambassador to China, after he rediscovered the thousand-year-lost art of papyrus papermaking. The village grows a large number of papyrus plants and has workshops where papyrus paper is made and painted using traditional techniques. The village also includes replicas of temples, manor houses, and farmsteads from the Pharaonic era. Staff dressed in ancient costumes demonstrate daily life, home activities, and religious ceremonies from that time, offering a glimpse into the economic and social life of ancient Egyptians thousands of years ago. The site also displays a model of the famous tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun and a model showcasing the construction methods of the pyramids. There is also a photo studio, restaurant, and gift shop on-site.
