Saqqara Pyramids

Introduction   The Saqqara Pyramids are situated about 30 kilometers south of Cairo, in the desert on the edge of the Nile Valley oasis in the western river valley. The site comprises multiple pyramids. The most renowned is the Step Pyramid, the tomb of King Djoser of the Third Dynasty of ancient Egypt, constructed circa 2700 BC. It is the oldest pyramid still standing in Egypt and also the world’s earliest tomb built primarily with stone blocks. The pyramid features a six-tiered stepped structure, standing approximately 60 meters high. Nearby, there are numerous tombs belonging to nobles and high-ranking officials, many of which are adorned with exquisite relief murals that vividly depict scenes of daily life and work in ancient Egypt. Additionally, the nearby Tomb of the Sacred Bull is also highly famous.
