Introduction: Founded in the 10th century, Cairo is one of the oldest Islamic cities in the world. It boasts many ancient and renowned mosques, Islamic schools, markets, and fountains, making it an important center of the Islamic world. Cairo reached its peak in the 14th century. The Islamic Old City of Cairo is located in the eastern part of modern Cairo, centered around Khan el-Khalili and extending north and south, encompassing famous Islamic landmarks such as Al-Azhar Mosque and the Citadel.
