Abdeen Palace

Abdeen Palace is a historic palace located in Cairo, serving as the office and residence of the President of Egypt. The palace was designed by a French architect and commissioned by Isma'il Pasha of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty. Construction began in 1863 and took 11 years to complete, with the palace opening for use in 1874.

Abdeen Palace is considered one of the most luxurious palaces in the world, both in terms of decoration and paintings, which are extremely opulent. Most of the palace’s salons and other large rooms are adorned with pure gold, reflecting its extraordinary grandeur. In 1921, an extensive garden was added, featuring lush greenery and abundant blooms, making it a great place for rest and relaxation.

The current Abdeen Palace is divided into two sections: one part serves as administrative offices, and the other is a complex of museums, including the Silver Museum, Arms Museum, Royal Museum, Presidential Gifts Museum, and Historical Documents Museum. These museums display daily items, collections, and documents from the royal era, as well as gifts presented to the President by heads of state and institutions from around the world.
