Agriculture has played a vital role in the development of Egypt’s history, significantly influencing the lives of Egyptians from ancient times to the present. The saying “Egypt is the gift of the Nile” reflects, to some extent, the outstanding contribution of the Nile to Egypt. Precisely because of the importance of agriculture, the Agricultural Museum came into being in the 1930s.

The Agricultural Museum was established during the reign of King Farouk of Egypt and opened to the public in 1938. It is the world’s first agricultural museum. The museum was founded with two purposes: to provide knowledge and information related to agricultural development, and to document Egypt’s agricultural history and culture from ancient times to the present. The museum is divided into 10 exhibition halls, displaying a large number of pictures, farming tools, crops, fruits and vegetables, pastries, flour cakes, animals, and more. Different types of bread eaten by people in various regions of Egypt are also part of the exhibits, along with the machines used to make them. In addition, maps and statistical data on the development of agriculture in Egypt are also displayed.

The museum also exhibits items related to the lives of farmers, detailing the steps of weaving and dyeing, and showcasing various utensils used by people in different eras.
