Coptic Museum
The Coptic Museum is located in Cairo and was established in 1910. It houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of Coptic artworks. The museum narrates the development of Christianity in Egypt from ancient times to the present and is the ideal place to gain a complete understanding of Egyptian Christianity.
The Coptic Museum holds the world’s most complete collection of Coptic artworks and has become a global research center for "Coptology" and Egyptian Christian culture. The museum is divided into multiple exhibition halls, displaying early Christian artifacts from the 4th to the 18th century, including manuscripts, textiles, stone carvings, pottery, terracotta, murals, paintings, icons, ivory carvings, gold and silverware, woodwork, ironwork, glassware, and various manuscripts from different eras, some of which date back to very ancient times. All the murals in the museum are religious in nature, with some even dating back to the 6th to 7th centuries, showcasing remarkably high artistic craftsmanship. Among the textile collections, the best-preserved items are garments, especially tunics, made from linen, wool, and silk.
