Liberation Square

Located in the heart of Cairo, the capital of Egypt, adjacent to the banks of the Nile River. The square is vast in area and is considered the largest square in Egypt. Occupying a prime location in the city center, the square features some of the most modern facilities. Starting from the south is the Egyptian Central Government Building, where various public affairs are handled. To the left rear of the Central Building is one of Egypt’s “elite universities,” the American University in Cairo, which is naturally known for its grandeur. Moving further left, there are a few scattered shops, and beyond them lies the Egyptian Museum. Adjacent to the museum is the Nile Hotel, where many airlines have set up offices or ticketing counters. Next to the Nile Hotel is the League of Arab States (commonly referred to as the Arab League). In front of the Arab League is Liberation Road, which is connected across the Nile River by the famous Egyptian Qasr al-Nil Bridge. The Nile serves as the boundary, with Cairo Governorate to the east and Giza Governorate to the west.
