Kalahari Wildlife Reserve

The Kalahari Wildlife Reserve is a vast wildlife sanctuary located in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana. Established in 1961, it covers a total area of 52,800 square kilometers, accounting for one-sixth of Botswana's total land area, making it the second-largest wildlife reserve in the world.

The Kalahari Wildlife Reserve is brimming with the beauty of wilderness — serene, tranquil, and boundless — making it a destination for adventurous travelers. The golden Kalahari Desert and its untouched arid environment create the reserve’s distinctive landscape. Especially shortly after the summer rainy season, the reserve becomes lush with vegetation and abundant in water and grass, attracting large numbers of wild animals that migrate here to feast. It is home to a wide variety of African antelopes, including black wildebeest, South African oryx, eland, roan antelope, red hartebeest, and springbok. In addition, there are giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs, and brown hyenas. The best time to observe wildlife is between November and April, when animals gather around salt pans and valleys.
