Lake Wanaka, situated at the foot of New Zealand’s Southern Alps and near Mount Aspiring National Park, is home to a Lifestyle Preserve — the first of its kind in the world. It not only protects the local natural ecosystem but also preserves the way of life of the original communities in the area.

Pristine and crystal-clear, Lake Wanaka has long been a paradise for water sports enthusiasts in New Zealand, offering activities such as sailing and motorboating. Its natural environment also supports a wide range of outdoor pursuits including cycling, hiking, skiing, and alpine trekking. Now designated as a lifestyle preserve, these existing activities can continue in a manner that respects nature, making the national park even more accessible. Visitors can deeply experience the lifestyle and environment of the Māori people while enjoying the majestic and beautiful scenery. Lake Wanaka can thus maintain a high quality of life in the long term, offering new perspectives on the coexistence between humans and the natural environment (as well as local culture).
