Đerdap National Park

Đerdap National Park stretches along the right bank of the Danube River, covering an area of approximately 640 square kilometers. The park’s most prominent feature and main attraction is the Đerdap Gorge, known as the famous “Iron Gates,” which serves as a grand gateway to the Carpathian Mountains. The Đerdap Gorge spans 100 square kilometers and is a river valley made up of four gorges divided by ravines.

Đerdap National Park is also home to a rich diversity of animals and a wide variety of plants that thrive in the area. With its picturesque landscapes, pleasant natural environment, rich historical culture, and striking ruins and castles, the park stands out as a unique gem among Serbia’s national parks. The 8,000-year-old Lepenski Vir, a Neolithic human settlement site, Roman fortresses built during the era of Emperor Trajan, remnants of ancient roads, and weathered bridges all exude a strong sense of history. Though battered by time, the monuments still stand proudly. Visitors interested in fishing can also try their luck in the Danube River.
