Subotica is located in the northern part of Vojvodina, on the border with Hungary. It is the northernmost city in Serbia, the fifth largest city in the country, the second largest in Vojvodina Province, and also the administrative center of the North Bačka District.

Subotica is a uniquely charming modern city, with many buildings in the city center adorned with the famous Hungarian Zsolnay ceramics, adding a unique character to the city. Among the most iconic structures in the city are the Synagogue, Subotica City Hall, Raichle Palace, and the City Library building. Designed by architects Komora and Jakab, Subotica City Hall is the largest building of its kind in the Vojvodina region. The people of Subotica rebuilt the new hall on the site of the original, and it took them a full two years to complete the interior decoration. The Synagogue in Subotica was one of the earliest buildings to use concrete and steel structures.

Near Subotica lies the well-known Lake Palić, which features complete amenities such as hotels, villas, and sports facilities. In addition, there is an artificial beach and a zoo, making it a popular tourist destination. The “Palić International Film Festival” and various other cultural and arts festivals are held here every summer.
