Hrodna

Hrodna is situated on the banks of the Neman River, near Poland and Lithuania. It is the capital of Hrodna Region in Belarus and one of the country's hubs for both international and domestic transportation.

Hrodna is one of the oldest cities in Belarus and still retains many ancient castles and religious buildings to this day. The Church of Saints Boris and Gleb is the oldest surviving structure in Hrodna and the only remnant of ancient Black Ruthenian architectural style. It was built before 1183 and is now on the tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Belarus. Another notable church is the tall Baroque-style Saint Francis Xavier Church. In addition, the Old Hrodna Castle is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. Today, it serves as the Belarusian National Historical and Archaeological Museum, showcasing the city’s long history and its rich, mature local art and culture to a constant stream of visitors.
