to purchase 20 more SSJ-100 aircraft

Moscow, January 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Aeroflot Russian Airlines (JSC Aeroflot, Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (JSC Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, SCA) have signed an agreement to purchase an additional 20 of the latest Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) aircraft.

Aeroflot will receive the SSJ-100 aircraft in an optimized configuration featuring a comfortable two-class layout that accommodates 87 passengers (12 business class and 75 economy class seats) and has a range of 2,400 kilometers.

The new aircraft will be used on short-haul domestic routes operated by Aeroflot Group subsidiaries, where the SSJ-100 has already proven its efficiency. With rapid growth in the domestic aviation market, Aeroflot Group’s domestic passenger traffic increased by 23.6% year-on-year in November 2014. The new aircraft are expected to make a significant contribution to the Group’s future growth.

The SSJ-100 is a next-generation regional aircraft developed and produced by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company in collaboration with Italy’s Alenia Aermacchi, with components supplied by leading Western companies. The SSJ-100 received certification from the Interstate Aviation Committee Aviation Register (IAC AR) in January 2011.

Prior to this new agreement, the parties had already signed a contract for 30 SSJ-100 aircraft. This new agreement will bring the total number of SSJ-100 aircraft in the Aeroflot Group fleet to 50 by 2017.

Aeroflot pursues a forward-looking fleet management policy as part of its strategy to become one of the leading airlines in Europe and globally. The airline currently operates the youngest fleet among the world’s major carriers, consisting of 150 Airbus, Boeing and Sukhoi airliners.
