Brest is a city in Belarus near the Polish border and the capital of Brest Region. Historically, it was a major land checkpoint of the former Soviet Union. Today, the city connects the European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States, serving as an important industrial, cultural, and sports center in Belarus, as well as one of its cities with a long history.

Brest is one of the cities in Belarus worth visiting. The magnificent Soviet-era war memorial is the most popular attraction among tourists. It is the Hero Fortress built in honor of both the famous and unnamed heroes who defended their homeland, located at the site of the 1941 battle. The Brest Archaeological Museum in the Old Town is a unique museum in Europe. Visitors can see the authentic archaeological remains of an East Slavic wooden town dating back to the 13th century, along with 224 preserved wooden buildings. In addition, the city also features Belarus's first outdoor railway museum, the century-old Brest City Park, and the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park—one of the largest and oldest primeval forest reserves in Europe, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
