St. Peter and St. Paul's Church

Attraction Introduction St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, built in 1408, is the only rectangular Gothic church in Lithuania. The famous Lithuanian bishop and poet Valančius is buried in the church. It underwent continuous renovations until the outbreak of the Russo-Swedish War in 1655, and over the course of 200 years, the church gradually absorbed architectural features of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The church tower stands 41.9 meters high and houses nine altars. In 1895, it was elevated to the status of a cathedral.
