The 7th Guandu International Nature Installation Art Festival begins today. Five invited artists have created works based on the theme "Migratory Birds Are Here," with installations situated on the brick walls of old buildings along Guandu Old Street, concrete walls in alleyways, and within Guandu Nature Park. The artworks will be on display until December 30, 2012.

Taiwanese artist Luo Yijun presents "Wings of the Wind" on the red-brick wall of an old building along Guandu Old Street, delivering the message that migratory birds love this place. Visitors can start their tour here before moving on to German artist Susanne Ruoff's "Rest Stop," where dozens of colorful birdhouses await. These birdhouses are not only for the birds but also serve as a bridge between people, wildlife, and nature.

The next stop is Guandu Nature Park, a transitional zone between land and water. The wetlands, teeming with fiddler crabs, mudskippers, fish, shrimp, and shellfish, serve as a fresh supermarket for migratory birds. The comfortable grassy marshes, muddy flats, and ponds are like five-star hotels for the birds—much like what Korean artist Bonggi Park conveys in his piece "Breathing," depicting a paradise where humans and birds can coexist and play. Next, visitors can step into Lithuanian artist Arvydas Alisanka's "Eggshell Dwelling" to experience the life and joy of breaking out of an egg. The final stop is Filipino artist Roger Tibon's "Migratory Bird Journey," where one can feel the harmony and interdependence between humans, birds, and the environment, taking flight with new life and carrying cherished memories to a land of happiness.
