Aukštaitija National Park (Aukštaitija National Park) is a national park in northeastern Lithuania, located about 100 kilometers north of Vilnius. Established in 1974, it is one of the five oldest parks in Lithuania.

The park was originally named Lithuanian SSR National Park (Lithuanian SSR), mainly to emphasize that it was the first such park in the republic at the time. In 1991, with the establishment and renaming of four other parks, this park was also renamed to its current name.

Aukštaitija National Park covers an area of 405.7 square kilometers, with 70% of the park covered by forests and 80% of those trees being pine, some of which are over 200 years old. The park is home to 64 species of plants, 8 types of fungi, and 48 species of birds, and is known for its biodiversity. 59% of all plant species found in Lithuania can be found in this park, which only occupies 1% of Lithuania’s total land area. There are 26 lakes scattered throughout the park’s forests and hills, covering a total area of 59.3 square kilometers, which is 15.5% of the park’s total area. The lakes have sparkling blue waters where visitors can enjoy boating and take in the serene beauty of the surrounding landscape.
