Mažeikiai is located on the banks of the Venta River, near the Latvian border, and is a city in Telšiai County, Lithuania. The city is one of the must-visit destinations in Lithuania, known for its long history, unique architecture, and rich and diverse natural resources.

The Mažeikiai Museum, established in 1928 and comprising branches such as the Pharmacy Museum and the Lithuanian Aviation Pioneers Museum, preserves and exhibits archaeological findings related to the history, folklore, and folk art of Samogitia. The original Curonians, Semigallians, and Samogitians together form the ancient tribal history of the Baltic region, representing a valuable cultural heritage. The red-brick Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, originating from 1930, is one of the area’s key attractions and an important historical and cultural site in Lithuania.

The famous regional folk music festival held annually here, attended by nearly 200 participants from across Lithuania, not only showcases the region’s vibrant cultural life but also provides visitors with an excellent opportunity to explore the local music and arts culture. In addition, the area features nature reserves with lush forests, sprawling woodlands, and rare wildlife.
