Telšiai is located in northwestern Lithuania and is the capital of Telšiai County. This city is one of Lithuania’s uniquely charming destinations, boasting rich tourism resources such as the beautiful and legendary Lake Mastis, historic museums, ancient sites, and stunning natural landscapes.

The ancient old town of Telšiai is one of Lithuania’s seven famous protected areas, where visitors can fully explore the town’s long history, culture, and artistic charm. Established in 1932, the Samogitian Museum is a notable local museum dedicated to the Samogitians, housing over 62,000 exhibits, 70,000 archival records, 12,000 scientific books, and 15,000 photographic negatives. Additionally, the museum displays photographs by many world-famous artists as well as original works by prominent Lithuanian painters. Beyond artworks, the museum also houses precious sculptures, Renaissance-era furniture, Baroque- and Classicism-style items, and valuable antique prints and images from the 17th and 18th centuries. It also features archaeological finds from Stone Age settlements, campsites, and burial grounds, along with a wealth of human heritage including agricultural tools, handicrafts, and everyday items.
