Radviliškis

Radviliškis is located in northern Lithuania, 21 km from Šiauliai, and is governed by Klaipėda County. The city was founded in the 15th century and has been an important administrative center since 1950, as well as a major transportation hub.

Radviliškis is one of the more well-known cities in Lithuania, famous for its historic railways, patches of cattails, and flocks of birds. One of the local landmarks is the tall Radviliškis Stone Windmill, built in the early 20th century to commemorate the victory of Lithuanian forces over German and Russian troops in 1919. The wooden bell tower of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Radviliškis Parish is a historically significant architectural monument, constructed in 1878. It has survived two major fires and was rebuilt in 1984. Its unique design commemorates the suffering of the Lithuanian people “in a manner of pain and martyrdom.” Radviliškis also boasts vast meadows, peaceful herds of cattle and sheep, delicious turkey, sweet and natural strawberries, lush trees, and numerous churches of various sizes scattered throughout, attracting visitors from all over the world.
