Riga Film Museum

The Riga Film Museum is located in the city center of Riga, the capital of Latvia, in a small courtyard on Pietava Street. Established in 1988, it is the only museum in Latvia dedicated to the field of film art. In 2006, the museum became a branch of the National Film Centre of Latvia.

The Riga Film Museum houses a collection of more than 32,000 historical objects related to Riga cinema and world film history, including primarily film equipment, documents, photographs, sets, costumes, as well as rare amateur Soviet Latvian film collections. A visit here offers a comprehensive insight into the history of Latvian cinema and its traditional national culture. The museum does not have a permanent exhibition, but hosts two special exhibitions each year on different themes, mainly to promote Latvian film history and the individuals who have made significant contributions to the Latvian film industry. The Riga Film Museum often attracts media, film studios, students, and others interested in cinema.
