Parque das Nações, Lisbon

Parque das Nações (Parque das Nações) is a comprehensive area in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, integrating leisure, business, and residential functions. This park is located along a revitalized 2-kilometer riverside area in the northeast of Lisbon, and houses numerous attractions.

The area mainly covers most of the Tagus estuary, which was previously used for industrial purposes. Due to being chosen as the site of the 1998 World Expo, the region underwent tremendous changes in the 1990s. After the 1998 World Expo ended, the area was renamed Parque das Nações, and since then many new large shopping malls, the Lisbon International Fair Center, hotels, new office buildings, and residential complexes have been added. Many uniquely designed and innovatively styled pavilions built for the Expo remain here, attracting many tourists. It is home to Europe’s largest oceanarium and the Pavilion of Knowledge – Ciência Viva, and the park also features over 300 interactive exhibits suitable for children of all ages.
