The National Museum of Ancient Art is an outstanding art museum located in Lisbon. Established in 1911, it is sometimes referred to as the "Green Window Museum" because of its green windows, and it is the finest museum for collecting ancient Portuguese art.

The museum mainly features ancient Portuguese art, that is, artworks from the Middle Ages to the early 19th century, including paintings, sculptures, metalwork, textiles, furniture, prints, ceramics, ivory crafts, and other decorative arts. Among the many collections in the museum, paintings, sculptures, and metalworks from the 15th and 16th centuries are particularly significant, as they are outstanding representations of the development of Portuguese art. The museum’s collection of Portuguese metalwork is one of its highlights, especially the masterpieces from the 12th to the 18th century. The most distinctive item is the Monstrance of Belém, believed to have been created by the Portuguese playwright Gil Vicente.
